A TEAM of Warrington Road Club veterans displayed their excellent form by picking up a 50-mile time trial victory.

The team of Steve Hilton, Steve Hankey and Dave Fox won the fastest team award at the Harry Baker Memorial time trial with a combined time of 6hours 5mins 10secs.

Hilton was the fastest rider as he completed the course in 1hour 57mins 12secs to continue his superb personal form – he has the club’s best times this year in 10, 25 and 50-mile time trials.

Hankey is also riding well – posting six top-10 finishes in time trials this year – while Fox finished sixth in the recent Steve Jones Memorial Road Race.

Club members also performed well at the recent National TLI closed circuit road race, with Paul Gibson placing fifth in the age 40-45 category and winning the bunch sprint.

Rob Done finished ninth in the age 45-50 group in the same race having finished third and sixth in closed circuit races in Litherland and Tameside respectively.

This year has also seen returns to the circuit for Malcolm Horner and Ken Dorrington after 10 and 20 years out of the saddle respectively, with the former winning his 50-59 age group at a 10-mile time trial in the Ribble Valley.

Dave Friend scored a new personal best of 1hour 7mins 28secs at the Manchester and District 25-mile Championships, with clubmate Ian Haddock the fastest Warrington rider on the day with a course PB of 56mins 21secs to finish 12th overall.
