LATCHFORD Albion’s promotion hopes were boosted on Saturday – despite the fact they did not even play.
Albion were scheduled to take on Wigan St Patricks A in North West Men’s League Division One, but their opponents forfeited the game to hand Lee Smith’s side an automatic 24-0 victory.
That, coupled with a defeat for leaders Walney Central, puts Albion just two points off top spot with a game in hand.
They travel to Leigh Miners Rangers A on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
Sadly, the boot was on the other foot for Latchford Albion A as a combination of injuries, work commitments and holidays forced them to forfeit their game against Higginshaw.
They visit Wigan Spring View A in NWML Division Five on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
