SEAN Williams is leaving Warrington Town, but five of last season's squad are confirmed to be staying at Cantilever Park.

The central midfielder, who was named the Players' Player and Supporters' Player of the Year at the club's presentation night, has signed for Evo-Stik Premier Division champions Altrincham for a second spell at Moss Lane.

Williams' departure is a big blow to Yellows as his 15 goals from midfield played a key role in a campaign which saw them reach the play-offs.

However, the club have confirmed five players that are known to be staying on, including captain Jay McCarten and midfielder Dylan Vassallo - the Evo-Stik Premier Division's Young Player of the Year.

Right-back Adam Carden and midfielders Gerard Kinsella and Liam Hynes are also confirmed to be sticking around but another midfielder, Mathias Bakare, has left.

Chairman Toby Macormac admits losing Williams is a blow but that they could not stand in the way of him playing at a higher level.

"It’s very early stages in the player merry go-round and I’m sure they’ll be surprises everywhere as the weeks progress," he said.

"We are busy discussing things for next season with current squad members whilst also talking with possible additions.

"It’s a blow to lose Sean but as a club, we can’t stand in his way of playing in the Conference North.

"Altrincham have a good squad already and this will be enhanced by his arrival."
