BIRCHWOOD High School pupil Katie Bowater has captained her country to success at a water polo tournament on the continent.
Bowater, 15, travelled with the England junior women’s team to compete in the EU Nations water polo tournament, which was held in the Czech Republic over the Easter weekend.
She was awarded the captaincy and led the team to the bronze medal, with South Africa winning the gold medal and Germany taking silver.
Katie first discovered the game at Warrington Swimming and Water Polo club but has since moved on to play in the National League for City of Liverpool.
