THE Guardian understands that winger Matty Russell is set to leave Warrington Wolves.

Scotland international Russell has not played for The Wire since the 18-10 victory over Widnes Vikings on February 16 and is heavily linked with a move to Salford Red Devils.

Mitch Brown has been head coach Steve Price’s preferred choice on the right wing of late, with Josh Charnley’s arrival now seemingly pushing Russell further down the pecking order.

The 24-year-old joined The Wire for the 2014 season and has made 94 appearances in primrose and blue, touching down for 31 tries.

Russell’s contract is due to expire at the end of next season.
