PREPARATIONS for the new season are in full swing at Warrington Cricket Club as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2017.

The first team were relegated from Division One of the Cheshire County Cricket League last year, but work is underway to make sure their hiatus is short.

South African wicketkeeper-batsman Jon Fletcher, who has spent the past two seasons with Lymm Oughtrington Park, has signed on as the club’s overseas professional.

A new overseas professional has been recruited to supplement the squad, while the club will still be running four senior teams in 2018 as well as a Sunday friendly team and an over 40s outfit as well as an extensive junior programme.

Senior winter nets have already started and take place at Bridgewater High School on Sundays between 1pm and 2.30pm.
