IT was a team gold medal for Warrington Athletics Club’s Steve Watmough, Dave Norman,Tony McCarthy and Dave Gill in the Northern Masters Cross Country Championships at Ashton under Lyne on Sunday.
The quartet’s success came on an extremely muddy course in the 35 to 64-years-old category.
Watmough won the gold for the over 55 age group, with Norman, fourth, and McCarthy, fifth. Gill was first in the over 60s race.
Three clubmates represented Loretto Grammar School Altrincham in the King Henry VIII School Relay in Coventry.
India Hayes helped the under 17s A team to ninth place, while Siobhan Gregory’s run came for the under 15s team that finished 14th. Amelia Smithers competed in the under 15s team which placed 21st.
