Steve Watmough on his way to a personal-best time at the Alsager 5-mile race
STEVE Watmough smashed his personal best time in a high-class field at the Alsager 5-mile road race on Sunday.
In finishing 45th overall, Watmough’s time of 28mins 10secs was enough for him to win the over 55s age group.
Further up the field, Warrington clubmate Nick Jones finished 16th overall and second in the over 40s age group after clocking 26mins 19secs, while Jack Green was just four seconds shy of his personal best as he finished 32nd in 27mins 35secs.

Elsewhere, Chris Fance set a new personal best at the Halewood 5km race on Saturday. His time of 16mins 50.28secs saw him finish sixth.
