GED McAllister scored the decisive goal for the Cheshire League’s representative team as they won an FA Inter-League Cup qualifier against Northern Alliance on Saturday.
The Eagle Sports’ front man applied the finishing touch to midfielder Chris Latham’s assist to settle the outcome at Witton Albion’s Wincham Park home.
Last year’s semi finallists edged a close encounter, creating the clearest chance of the first half when Chris Quirk’s volley forced their guests’ goalkeeper to save.
Rudheath Social’s Paul Alcock made him work in the second half too, before Latham’s break ended with McAllister netting from close range.
Northern Alliance, represented by Carlisle City, tried in vain to restore parity in the remaining quarter hour.
Cheshire League turn their attention now to the second game of this week’s double-header, taking on their Manchester League counterparts in the North West Inter-League Cup final at Chester’s Exact Stadium on Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.
