RYLANDS will take on Warrington rivals Eagle Sports in the JB Parker Challenge Cup final after a single goal saw off Linotype in Saturday’s semi final.

Manager at Gorsey Lane, Dave Parr, was a winner of the competition while in charge at Middlewich Town the season before last.

This year’s showpiece takes place at Trafford’s Shawe View home on Wednesday, March 27, kick off 7.30pm.

In Division One, Sean Lynch bagged a brace for Knutsford for the second successive weekend as they extended their unbeaten run in 2013 to eight matches.

Reds’ advantage at the summit is worth a dozen points following a 2-0 win at Denton Town, for closest rivals Whaley Bridge were held to a draw at Crewe.

Middlewich Town could not complete a hat-trick of wins this season over Garswood, sharing four goals at Seddon Street with guests that stay one point ahead of Adam Morris’ men.

Elsewhere Gamesley climbed into the table’s top half after putting nine goals past rock-bottom Grappenhall, while David Short’s hat-trick for visitors Styal condemned relegation-haunted Lostock Gralam to a first league defeat of the calendar year.

The top five teams in Division Two won, leaving the standings as they were.

Poynton occupy first place after coming from behind to beat their hosts Sandbach United, substitutes Mark Faulkner and Danny Makin adding to first half goals from Rick Tindall and Ash Crank.

Second-placed Runcorn Town reserves are only a point adrift after thrashing Malpas, Jonathon McDonald scoring a double in a five-goals success.

Josh Smith, Dave Graven and Kev Hammond netted too.

Rudheath, currently third with games in hand on the two teams above them, were similarly comfortable victors at the expense of Golborne thanks to goals from Michael Brandon, Stuart Tulloch, Ryan Baker and Sam Didsbury.

Richard Williams’ treble was key to Maine Road reserves’ narrow win against wooden spoonists Daten, the visitors eventually losing 4-3.

Barnton recovered from the disappointment of last weekend’s extra time exit from the Division Two Challenge Cup, hammering newcomers Egerton.

They had five different goal-getters in a 6-0 win, Leon Williams helping himself to two on an afternoon when Karl Brown, Anthony Wynne, Billy Webb and Warren Bellew added their names to the score sheet.

There were wins too on Saturday for Congleton Vale and Moore United at the expense of Tarporley and Penlake respectively.
