THIS year has been hard for many people in Warrington so my first wish would be for the Government to see sense and invest to create jobs.

I want to see people back in work, especially our young people, too many of whom are jobless.

The new year is an opportunity for the Government to recognise its plan is not working and to act to support jobs and growth.

Housing is an issue that concerns many families and I’d like to see affordable homes built for Warrington people, not speculative developments that eat up our remaining green spaces and do nothing to help young families get on the housing ladder.

Building affordable homes for local people not only helps families looking for homes but creates jobs.

I also want to see the Government drop its reckless NHS bill and for vascular services to be kept in Warrington Hospital.

The Government’s changes to the NHS are the biggest since its creation and risk doing irrevocable harm.

Of course I want the Wolves to win the Super League and for Manchester United to win the Premiership. The Champions League will have to wait.

Sport will be a big part of 2012 and I hope that the legacy of the Olympics will provide opportunities for young people in Warrington through the Orford Park project.

I also want to see the younger members of my family, and of everyone else’s family, grow up in a peaceful and secure world.
