A MUM-OF-THREE who grew her hair as a distraction after she was made redundant is having it all shaved off to support the Little Princess Trust.

Tracey Myers, of Churchill Avenue, Culcheth, lost her training and auditing job of eight years at Network Rail and vowed to only cut her hair if she got an interview.

That was at the end of last summer and after many dead ends on the job front her hair grew to 21 inches. It was also the first time she had been out of work since she was 17.

Now Tracey is putting her hair to good use by donating it to the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for children with cancer.

The 49-year-old has also raised more than £500 through sponsorship as part of Macmillan Cancer Support's Brave The Shave. She will be losing her locks on Saturday.

Tracey said: "All those people in the world who have had to have their head shaved for medical reasons, it's for them I'm doing it.

"I genuinely have had so many friends affected by cancer, even my stepdaughter Kitty who is now 10 weeks into remission.

"Her hair is growing quickly now and she can get her own back for a while with the slap head banter.

"One of my best friends Carol, a mum-of-three, is also now two years into remission.

"I've been privileged to have not needed the care and support of Macmillan for me or any of my family, but who knows what the future holds for any of us.

"I have been a blood donor for 20 years and 17 years ago my youngest son Ben needed a blood transfusion.

"So I think we shouldn't need to be affected personally before we support such great causes."
