CULCHETH and Glazebury Parish Council has welcomed its newest member.

Anne Roberts, from Glazebury, will represent Glazebury, Mee Brow and Fowley Common residents after being co-opted on to the council.

Members unanimously approved Cllr Roberts' appointment following the resignation of Cllr Angela Duncombe earlier in the year due to personal reasons.

Cllr Roberts has lived in the village with her family for many years and she is a former local government officer.

The Meadowbank Gardens resident and Labour party member said: "I am delighted to join my colleagues on the parish council and to have the opportunity to represent the residents of Glazebury, Mee Brow and Fowley Common.

"I am looking forward to working alongside councillors Chris Vobe, Matt Smith and Joan Grime, and can’t wait to get straight down to work."

Cllr Chris Vobe, chairman of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council, added: "Although councillors of both political parties were saddened by Cllr Duncombe’s departure from the council, we are confident that Anne will continue her work admirably.

"She has already rolled up her sleeves and is getting stuck in to her new role."

As well as attending meetings of the parish council, Cllr Roberts will also serve on the law and order and planning sub-committees.
