TWO directors from David Homes completed a fundraising challenge for a Warrington hospice which consisted of completing 17 hours of golf.

The home developers played 72 holes of golf in order to raise money for St. Rocco’s Hospice, their ‘charity of the year.’

Andrew Taylor, planning director, and Noel Pettersson, financial director, embarked on the golf challenge from 5am until 10pm earlier this month.

The pair played four rounds of golf back to back with no buggies and walked 20 miles, playing 17 hours of golf with hundreds of shots.

The challenge took place at the Marriot Worsley Park PGC Championship Golf Course, who provided the directors with day long access to its course.

So far they have raised £2,468 for the Bewsey hospice.

Andrew said: “It was a tough physical challenge on a very warm summer’s day, but we were delighted to be able to complete all four rounds and raise so much money for St Rocco’s.

‘‘We’re really grateful to everybody that sponsored us.”

As the developer’s charity of the year, staff have been raising money for St Rocco’s through a series of employee funded initiatives including raffles, cake sales, and sponsored events, with much planned for the remainder of the year.

Nicola Henshaw, senior relationships fundraiser for St. Rocco’s said: “We are so grateful to the team at David Wilson Homes for their fundraising efforts throughout the year and thank Andrew and Noel for taking part in their very own challenge to raise money for the hospice.

“As a local charity, we really do rely on support from local businesses and the Warrington community.

‘‘We look forward to more exciting times ahead this year.”
