AN innovative architecture and designs company has unveiled its transformation of a Stockport pub and restaurant.

Birchwood Park-based DV8 Designs undertook an ambitious full interior refurbishment at the Jolly Sailor pub in Davenport, also making external improvements including an orangery extension and enhanced outdoor seating area.

This was the fourth time the firm have been hired by Almond Family Pubs - who own the venue - to complete a major project, with the Jolly Sailor’s £650,000 renovation marking the most expensive and significant one so far.

James Almond, of Almond Family Pubs, said: “This has been a real passion project for us and we wanted to place this exciting redesign into the trusted hands of the DV8 Design team.

“The team has worked incredibly to design a sympathetic renovation that has retained the historical and welcoming surroundings of this much-loved pub.”

The pub was first opened over a century ago in 1895, with the recent refurbishment seeing the addition of a new restaurant and carvery that also led to menu and service alterations for customers.

The purpose of the rebuild was to reignite the pub’s proud naval heritage, bringing to life the old building in its protected conservation area.

And the DV8 team were more than happy to be on hand to provide such a service.

“We were incredibly excited to work with Almond Family Pubs once again,” a DV8 Designs spokesperson said.

“This was a major project for us with internal and external alterations, planning considerations, external works and landscaping a long with full interior decoration.

“We are so proud of the final result and we’re as excited as the locals to see this popular pub reopened and looking better than ever.”
