A POPULAR pub is set to be renamed, and has revealed what it will look like after it receives a major refurbishment.

The Stocks, on Station Road in Padgate, will become the Station House Carvery and Grill following a planned £250,000 makeover.

Darts and a pool table will feature in the new-look pub while the menu is set to boast milkshakes, vegetarian and vegan dishes and breakfast options – including a breakfast pizza – in addition to the traditional carvery.

Trust Inns has applied for planning permission from Warrington Borough Council to transform the currently vacant watering hole.

The pub would receive a timber canopy at its front entrance, a new roof infill and an additional entrance to the rear.

A new play area would be created outside while the beer garden would be extended, with plans also including a reconfiguration of the pub’s car park.

Planning documents add: “The existing decoration is very dark and dull, and is in need of refurbishment as it has been neglected in recent years.

“The premises is owned by Trust Inns – and has been in their ownership for the past seven years – who wish to develop the property and progress the business with the intention of bringing a fresh approach both to the premises and management, to breathe new life into the property in order to give it a long-term future.”

A consultation on the plans runs until Thursday, August 30.
