WARRINGTON singer David Hunter is through to the next round of ITV's Superstar show.
The 27-year-old is vying to be the last man standing when the public decides who will play Jesus in an arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.
Speaking to the Guardian backstage during tonight's live show, David said: "I was desperate to be one of the first names read out, just so I could relax, but they made me wait.
"I can't tell you how good it felt when they read out my name.
"I'm in love with my second song and can't wait to hear what everyone thinks."
David added: "Thank you to the Warrington Guardian readers who are voting for me. It means the world to me. Free gigs all round when I come home!"
On tonight's show David received rapturous applause from the audience and impressive comments from the judges after singing Rebecca Ferguson's Nothing Real But Love.
Comedy actress Dawn French said he 'rocked', while singer Jason Donovan said: "They saved the best til last. I think you've got a long, long way to go."
Melanie C told the singer he was 'born to perform', and Lord Lloyd Webber added: "It was an outstanding performance. You really did take in everything we talked about.
"You sold it brilliantly, absolutely fantastically. You, David, were tremendous tonight."
