PENSIONERS at a Stockton Heath nursing home are looking forward to whiling the summer away in their newly-revamped garden.
Residents at Summerville Nursing Centre, on Hilltop Road, celebrated the opening of its sensory garden last Sunday.
This year, for the fifth year running, BUPA, which runs the home, teamed up with national horticultural charity Thrive to develop gardens designed specifically to stimulate the senses and invited green-fingered volunteers to get fit and get gardening.
Inmates from Appleton Thorn Young Offenders Institute were responsible for creating the garden, which includes a water feature, seating area, herb and flower borders.
