VITAL building work at a Cinnamon Brow community club will go ahead thanks to a hefty donation from a housing association.

And mum-of-two Nathalie Rennison, who lives in the area, was chosen to present the cheque for £2,500 to Cinnamon Brow Farm Club after she described it as a lifeline'.

Mrs Rennison has been taking her four-year-old daughter Ella to the mums and tots group at the farm club since she was a baby.

She presented the cheque on behalf of the Friends of Muir Group, the fundraising arm of her landlord, Muir Group Housing Association.

Muir Group invited 23-year-old Mrs Rennison to make the presentation because she is typical of the many Muir Group tenants who have benefited from the computer training, youth club and other facilities the farm club has offered over the years.

She now takes her one-year-old son Alfie to the group as well.

She said: "Going to the farm club is really important to us because the children learn to play together and learn how to share things. It's a good way to meet people too."

Mrs Rennison and her two children, as well as other mums and tots in the area, are reaping the benefits of a new play area, which opened last year.

She added: "Before, there was nowhere to take the children to play outside, so I had to keep them cooped up at home. They've got somewhere safe to play out now and they love it, especially in the summer."

The money Muir is donating to the Farm Club will be used to help waterproof the highly porous walls of the farm club.

Parish councillor Mick Curran received the cheque on behalf of the farm club and said: "Without the building work this money from Muir is helping pay for, the farm club would eventually have to close."
