SCHOOL children were on the ball as they took part in a football competition during the half term break.

More than 65 youngsters, aged seven to 15, battled it out on the pitch during an event arranged by CSO David Mahon, from Warrington South NPU, at Broomfields Leisure Centre last Tuesday.

The tournaments involved children from Broomfields Junior School, Cobbs Infant School and Bridgewater High School.

CSO Mahon said: “All the games were played in a very competitive but fair manner and all the youngsters who took part really enjoyed themselves.

“The football tournament is one of many events that give us the opportunity to engage with young people in the community and build positive relationships with them.”

The first matches were held in 2008 and CSO Mahon said the event had gone from strength to strength.
