A SHAMELESS thug involved in an attack which saw a man die has bragged about his crimes on social networking site Facebook.

John Palmer, known as JJ Palmer, aged 26, wrote on his Facebook page that he pleaded guilty to something he did not do because he would face a longer sentence if convicted after a trial.

He said: “Ye I had a tear in my eye coz I wnt guilty and there’s a chance my dog will get put dwn (sic) so ye I had a tear in my eye my dog was my life an if i had done the trail and lost i could of (sic) got 7yrs. Sum people say I got away with murder (sic).”

He posted a picture of himself over the weekend laughing while holding a copy of the Warrington Guardian front page which highlighted his crimes.

He is set to be jailed for the horrific day time attack, which saw Simon Whittall die, in December.

It was a very different Palmer to the one who had been reduced to sobbing as he admitted his part in the attack before the courts.

Last week he pleaded guilty to causing 39-year-old Mr Whittall grievous bodily harm, an assault on Stephen Littlewood and owning Dougie, a Johnson American Bulldog which caused injuries to Mr Whittall.

Mr Whittall died a week after the attack on Froghall Lane in September, 2009. He suffered a bleed to the brain and had dog bites on his body. Mr Littlewood was not badly injured in the attack.

Palmer also wrote that the only person he was sorry for was his mum for being on the front page of the Warrington Guardian.

He joked that the attack had been in two newspapers and asked friends if they had seen it in a third paper so it would be a ‘hat trick’.

Palmer wrote that he had appeared in the Warrington Guardian nine times and that appearing in the paper was ‘nothing’ to him.

Lewd comments were also made by Palmer about DI Jo Miller, who led the case for Cheshire Police.

Palmer, of the Old Quays, Latchford, is understood to be involved in drugs, using his dog as protection.

The dog suffered a serious injury in the attack and remains in police kennels.
