A COUPLE are on a mission to revive the once thriving wool cargoes that were transported through Cheshire by canal.
Colin and Carole Wareing are mooring their boat Patty Ann in Lymm next Thursday, September 23, to highlight their project.
The Lancashire couple’s boat will be open from 10am to 5pm to allow visitors to browse around and have a look at the wool on the boat.
The couple came up with the idea after talks with fellow boaters who felt that there was a need for a service bringing wool to knitters by canal.
Knitting is again in fashion and the couple aim to fill a gap as a lot of traditional wool shops that once occupied towns and villages have disappeared.
Mrs Wareing is a keen designer of her own knitwear and the boat supplies wool, patterns and knitting needles.
