MEMBERS of a Widnes care home have been getting practical advice on how to keep themselves safe and how to prevent falls.
Hough Green Care Home held an event as part of National Falls Awareness Day last month.
Led by Mary Bennett, who is currently working on a project on fall prevention for older people at Edge Hill University, there were workshops and advice available about what people can do to prevent accidents. There was also information about medication, the use of vitamin D and hip protectors for anyone at risk.
Falls Awareness Day started last year and is organised by Help The Aged to highlight the ways in which we can all reduce the risk of falls and help those more vulnerable to damage such as people with osteoporosis.
