ELWORTH bounced back with maximum points against struggling Betley.

After suffering the expected loss against champions-elect Wood Lane, it was back to business for the London Road outfit, last Saturday.

A quality all-round performance was enough to see off the hosts by 33 runs and earn elevation into the top six of NSSC Division One.

Vice skipper Dave Palin led the charge with a top score of 42 as the visitors adopted a positive approach to get the job done against a side threatened by relegation.

Reaching 196-5, they clearly thought it was enough as the declaration came and Jim Higgins backed his bowlers to finish Betley off.

That faith was justified by the spinner himself as he helped secure victory with a five-star show.

Atif Zaidi battled away for a superb 83 in vain with his teammates unable to cope with both Higgins (5-55) and another huge effort from Matt Buckley who claimed 4-57.

They can leapfrog Rode Park with a win over them at home, this Saturday.
