CREWE made it back-to-back wins with a big upset at promotion-chasing Hem Heath.

Matt Dawson and the lads will have raised a few eyebrows after completing a 75-run victory against the NSSC Division One high-fliers, last Saturday.

Boosted by success over Kidsgrove, another quality performance sees them move further away from the relegation dogfight between the bottom three.

Although they suffered a few setbacks along the way, Crewe built up a decent plaform with the bat and piled on over two tons.

Losing Mark Hurst to a leg injury early on, partner Nick Lange battled through a dodgy spell to post an attractive 39 but when he finally fell lbw to Atkinson, the visitors looked in trouble at 63-3.

In-form Joe Boyle saved the day, carrying on where he left off to share a brilliant partnership of 97 with pro Ran Bose (28).

Boyle (53) completed his half-century but when both fell at 160, Crewe wobbled once more.

David Hurst and Dawson didn't last long and it took some experience to get the job done.

Richard Marsh (18no) and Mike Holt (13no) made sure of a decent total.

The duo shared an unbeaten stand of 31 to secure maximum batting points, the declaration coming at 203-7 off 59 overs.

All the pressure had been heaped on Hem Heath and Lange cranked it up with the prize wicket of former Indian test star Aakash Chopra, falling cheaply for 12.

John Cheadle (14) and Andy Palmer (29) steadied the ship before Gower (3-24) removed both and Gary Wilson to leave the hosts struggling on 67-4.

Gary Ridgeway (15) and Stephen Atkinson (31) threatened to turn things around with a stand of 49 before Crewe's pro finally made the breakthrough.

It sparked a complete collapse as Bose (3-32) and Martin Webb (3-11) tore through the order.

Heath lost their last five wickets for only 12 runs.

A nice maximum 25 points puts Crewe within distance of the tight middle pack in Division One.

They face a tall order next though.

Runaway leaders Wood Lane are due to arrive at the Vagrants, this Saturday (Start 1.30pm).
