NANTWICH Town will look to wrap up their pre-season with victory at Winsford United on Saturday.

It's pretty clear what the Dabbers want out of the next ten months and their quest for promotion begins at home to Glossop North End on August 12.

Player boss Steve Davis is hoping to see his lads up the ante in their final warm-up game at the Barton Stadium.

It should be a good indicator as North West Counties Division One meets Division Two.

"It was a decent game last season, I think it was 2-2," said Davis.

"They'll have a decent side and hopefully we should have the majority of our lads back more or less."

Injuries and holidays have left a depleted Nantwich mulling over a 0-0 draw at Eccleshall and a 4-0 drubbing from Witton Albion at Jackson Avenue.

Davis says it would have been a different story had the first team been at his disposal.

"We've had mixed results," he admitted.

"But we've been without a lot of players over the last week or so.

"We were nowhere near as strong as we could have been against Witton.

"I think the full first team would have stretched them a lot more.

"Having said that, I did think the scoreline flattered them.

"Eccleshall was a good work out on a pitch that was rock hard."

Davis and the staff are still running the rule over their batch of trialists.

Danny McVae's hopes of a Dabbers return have been hampered by injury while young striker Rob Egginton and the rest still look to impress.

"Danny's dislocated his wrist and he's had an op on it," continued Davis.

"It's a shame because he's done OK but we'll stick with him and we'll see what happens when he's fit.

"Rob just needs to get a lot fitter. We've not made a decision on anyone yet."

Danny Griggs should recover from a thigh injury to make the start of the season while Matt Blake is scheduled for a return late August/September.

Davis hopes fellow strikers Andy Kinsey and new recruit Andy Bott can spark to life against Winford.

"Hopefully they'll get a couple to get their confidence going for the start of the season," he concluded.
