THE Last Night of the Proms comes to Winsford with one of the country's top brass bands at the Civic Hall next week.

The Britannia Brass Band will mass ranks with the The Roberts Bakery Band for an impressive Albert Hall-style performance.

A leading singer will help recreate the festive atmosphere during Brass Night at the Proms.

The concert will feature a selection of popular classic songs and all the crowd-participation of The Last Night of the Proms.

Promoter Dave Thompson said: "Everybody will be flag-waving, everybody singing, it will be a really great atmosphere.

"We have been touring the country and our shows have been packed out with people damanding encore after encore."

The Britannia Brass Band - which is ranked as the fourth best in the country and has won a string of awards - will join ranks with the Roberts Bakery Band for the evening.

The massed bands will be fronted by soprano and opera-star Dawn Mullard.

They promise classic after classic, like Nessun Dorma, Rule Britannia and Jerusalem before coming to a grand-finale with the 1812 Overture, complete with booming canons.

BRASS Night at the Proms is at Winsford Civic Hall on October 13. For details, please ring 867539.
