IT WAS 'alright' on the night for a group of young performers who proved they were just Michael Barrymore's kind of people!

Starstruck Daniel Grimshaw, aged 14, of Jervis Close, Cinammon Brow, had gone down a storm in a production of Grease at Padgate High School, with help from seven female cast members.

So when he heard Michael Barrymore's TV roadshow 'My Kind of People' was coming up north, he decided they should tread the boards again for a chance of appearing on national TV.

The boiler-suited crew travelled to Meadow Hll shopping centre in Sheffield to wow crowds with their all-singing all-dancing version of the hit musical number, Grease Lightning.

Ambitous Daniel, who has been sharpening his performing skills at Stagecraft at Ryland's Rec since last September, hopes his small screen debut will be the first of many TV appearances.

Daniel's mum Dawn said: "The group went down really well. A few of the other acts were quite good, but some of the competition was horrendous - it was more like karaoke!"

The cockney comedian's new series is scheduled to go on air in January.
