LOVE and trust has kept devoted Rudheath couple John and Phyllis Millington together.
Now they are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary on March 26.
They met in Northwich in 1948 when Phyllis was working at Broadhurst's and John for British Road Services, in Warrington.
"As soon as I saw him I thought, I really like him," said Phyllis, now aged 71, of Shipbrook Road.
Three years later the couple married at St Wilfrid's RC Church, in Northwich, - the wedding was attended by more than 80 people.
"Even though I was over 21 he formally asked my father for my hand in marriage," said Phyllis.
John, now aged 78, worked for 30 years with North Western buses as a driver while Phyllis worked in the cash department at Wade Works.
The couple have one daughter Karen, son-in-law Terry and grandson Darren, aged 13.
"We have had 50 good years together. We've had our ups and downs but with our love and trust we have sorted it out," said Phyllis.
She added: "I've always told John that the 7s and 6d he spent on our marriage licence was the best money he ever spent." N1-55-16
