AFTER two years plying their trade, Northwich rock band Sweet Venom have released their debut CD.

And it has already made an impact with interest from several record labels including Some Bizarre, who once had Soft Cell signed up.

To coincide with the release, recorded in just three days, the band perform an exclusive gig at Goostrey Youth Centre - only their 12th since they've been together.

The band, made up of Ed Cox on vocals and guitar, Ian Pittam on guitar, Ferg Thomas on drums and Laurence Tonkin on bass, has played around 10 gigs since forming after meeting through a mutual friend.

Laurence, who is studying at Sir John Deane's College, said: "We play straight rock music and everyone who hears us says we sound like no-one else.

"It's a good thing that we have our own unique sound, which is exclusively our own music and is diverse and eclectic in style."

The CD, We Didn't Want To Be Bad Kids, TV Made Us, is made up of six tracks and is available for £5 by e-mailing the band on sweetvenom@sweetvenom.co.uk.

And if you would like to try before you buy, the gig is on Friday, March 24 at 7.30pm. Admission is £2 on the door.
