WINSFORD'S new marina centre could be ready for use by June according to the town's Youth Forum.
The project suffered a setback after Christmas when the costs were underestimated to the tune of £26,372, leaving them to pay £11,372 extra.
Becky Hayes, from Winsford Youth Forum said: "When we first realised we had to find this money we did not know what we were going to do, but we have managed it in just a few months.
"We have 80 per cent of what we need to find, but we have documents going out to different companies asking for small donations as we are still looking for five or six thousand pounds.
"The building is on order and should be up in June. The building is constructed off site, so it basically comes on a lorry, but they should be starting the footings next month."
The forum managed to come up with their £22,872 share of the total £147,872 cost of the building thanks to various grants and donations, including £5,000 from Winsford Town Council. Vale Royal Borough Council will foot the rest of the bill.
The building itself will replace the old run down marina and will house canoe storage, new changing facilities and a classroom.
This makes it a suitable base for nature treks around the picturesque flashes area.
Any more financial help with the youth forum's share of the funds would be appreciated, if you or your company can contribute please ring Becky on 01606 554649.
