SUPPORT is now in place for Crewe and Nantwich women experiencing domestic violence.
Crewe has one of six strategically placed outreach workers as part of a new initiative to combat this difficult problem.
The posts are funded by the Cheshire Domestic Violence Inter-Agency Project and will be managed by Stonham Housing Association Limited.
Officials hope women will come forward and volunteer to support and assist those experiencing domestic violence.
"Twenty women have expressed an interest in becoming volunteers across the county and we are hoping at least sixteen more will come forward," said project chairman Sue Bridge.
"All will be given training and support to help them make a positive difference to the lives of women and children who are being abused.
"Volunteers who come forward will find that they are involved in a worthwhile and rewarding experience."
Anyone who wishes to become a volunteer can call 01244 322743 and leave their details on an answering machine.
Women who need advice or help can contact the Outreach Service through the local Women's Aid on 01270 250390.
