MANY a scoop was sniffed out by the newshounds of Wistaston Green Primary School last week.
Pupils tasted the world of newspapers over a two-day period, last Wednesday and Thursday, as part of a national competition organised by the Times Educational supplement.
With the normal timetable suspended, youngsters experienced realistic working days and compiled their very own newspaper, featuring both local and national stories.
Reporters rang farmers to find out the latest on the Foot and Mouth crisis, Crewe Alexandra FC after their midweek victory and surfed the internet in their quest to create an interesting read.
Deadline was close of play on Thursday with the final edition in the post to competition heads.
Year Six teacher Nancy Lake was delighted with their efforts.
"It was a big success and everyone worked hard to complete the paper with two hours to spare before deadline," she said.
"It's the first time we've managed to do that and it's a tremendous achievement."
