CREWE FC face a blank Saturday for the second weekend in a row.

And boss Ian O'Reilly isn't happy about it.

Hoping to gain revenge for a 5-1 thrashing at Daten last time out, Crewe were due there in the League Cup on Saturday.

However the hosts now face a replay in another competition, forcing Crewe into a second inactive Saturday.

"It's a real downer and we didn't need another Saturday without a game," said the boss.

"You need to keep playing at this stage of the season and we haven't even had the bad weather up here yet.

"We're still in two cups and we're missing league fixtures so we're going to end up with four or five mid-week games at the end of the season.

"That makes it really tough for us but it's out of our hands and we'll have to get on with it."

O'Reilly is hoping to line up a friendly next week to keep his side match fit for a return to action.

"We've tried to arrange a mid-week game and we were hoping to get Shawbury under the lights," he added.

"But with the pitches wet, we're not sure if it will get the go ahead.

"If any other teams want to sort something out, we'll see if we can do it."

One plus from the last couple of weeks was the return of midfielder Graham Taylor.

"We're pleased to have him back in the fold and hopefully he'll be pushing for a first team place in a couple of weeks."
