I CAN absolutely understand the distress of the 'sad pensioner', as I went through similar trouble myself and I am still recovering.
My life was made hell by youths housed below me while living in a one-bed upstairs flat with my young child. We suffered endless anti-social behaviour from this scumbag and the police, with the exception of PC Palin, were of no help at all.
In fact the attitude of the police in general was a disgrace. These idiots constantly harassed me and my child and even on one occasion tried to get in my door, which I kept constantly locked.
Even though I reported this to the police and had previous incidents logged, the officer sounded bored and I ended up hanging up the phone in dismay.
I have now been moved, but not before I was suicidal and had to have professional help in order to try to function in my job and raising my child.
I am recovering well now but my heart goes out to this 'sad pensioner'. I shed a tear when I read the letter and if I could do anything to improve the situation I would.
