FOOTBALL fans blocking Mount Pleasant Road will be asked to park elsewhere after complaints from residents.

Davenham Parish Council contacted the village's junior football club because of concerns from people living on the road, which leads to Butcher's Style.

On days when both under seven teams - the Dynamos and Rangers - play, the parents of visiting players cause problems by parking on the road and its grass verge.

Usually parents leave their cars on the Cricket Club's car park but there is not enough space if two back-to-back matches happen.

Doug Hunt, president of the club, said the overspill back-to-back matches on Butcher's Style occur about three times a year.

He said: "The problem is caused when the team which started play at 9.30am is leaving the field and the 11am team is waiting to start.

"However, we will take positive steps to make sure parking is not a problem and would welcome feedback if it is still one."

Clr Mike Silcock, chairman of Davenham Parish Council said: "It's a busy football club that has visiting teams coming to the area who don't always know where to park but the problem has now been resolved."
