TWO A-Level students came runners up in a county debating competition in their first attempt at public speaking.
Laura Meadowcroft and David Risley, who are both 17, were asked to discuss whether extremist political parties should be banned and the duo opposed the proposition.
The teenagers were pipped to the post by Loreto Convent Grammar School for Girls but English teacher Jill Martland was pleased with their performance.
Laura, who is studying history, English and business studies, is hoping to study history at university, and David, who is doing English, history and media studies, wants to continue with his English studies at university.
