WARRINGTON Athletics Club's youngsters produced excellent results in the Sale Manchester Harriers Over the Bales event at Crossford Bridge on Sunday despite many of the runners having competed the previous day at Walton Hall Gardens.

The under 13s boys produced their usual top class performance to take the first three places with Matt Jackson first, Danny Cliffe second and Matt O'Neill third.

Mike Williams backed up the other three finishing in 14th place to bring the team home in first place.

Danny Jackson almost emulated his older brother but following a terrific finishing straight battle he lost out by a couple of inches in the under 11s race.

Danny was backed up by Ryan O'Neill in 12th place, Luke Johnston 20th and Andrew Happer 28th to finish as third-placed team.

Chris Hill had a great cross country debut in winning the under nines race. Chris was backed up by Matthew Cook ninth, Stephen Darbyshire 14th and Jake Wilkinson 19th to end up as second-placed team.

The youngest of the Jackson brothers James failed by one place and one second to count in the team race when he finished 20th. Paul Kilgowan also ran well to finish 26th.

Only three runners took part in the girls races with Heidi Williams 18th in the under nines event and her sister Heather 17th in the under 13s race. Amy Dutton was 37th in the under 13s race.
