Stockton Heath's 60th anniversary

STOCKTON Heath Womens' Bowls Club's annual presentation lunch coincided with the 60th anniversary of the formation of the club.

To mark the occasion, each member was greeted with a floral buttonhole and presented with a commemorative coaster.

President Margaret Thompson presented the season's silverware to the competition winners.

The club, which was founded in 1943, meets every Tuesday afternoon for team games and Thursdays for mains and tournaments.

Swimming success

FOUR Priestley College students reunited to swim together for the first time in three years to take part in the Bazuka National Swimming Championships at Macclesfield.

Head of physical education, Nigel Howells, led the girls to fourth place position.

He said that Corinne Hodge, Gemma Holmes, Rachel Greig and Rachel Hillam swam remarkably well and he hopes to enter the team into the British Colleges Gala next year.

Winter sweeps

WARRINGTON Public Parks' Bowls League will be holding a winter sweep at Victoria Park on Sunday.

The entrance fee is £3 and there will be a 9.15am draw and a 9.30am start. To enter contact Brenda on 816475.

Sunday's sweep winner was St Elphins One star D James, who beat Lovely Lane player M Burrows 21-18 in the final.

The losing semi-finalists were H Horne and D Twigg.

Bowls club dinner

STOCKTON Heath Pensioners' Bowls Club's Christmas dinner will be held at Warrington Golf Club on December 12 starting at noon.

Competition winners should return their trophies and cups on the day and they should be suitably inscribed.

Welsby triumphs

A TIGHT final rounded off Richmonds Bowls Club's weekly winter sweep on Sunday.

Chris Welsby defeated Damian Morrison 21-19 in the concluding game and the defeated semi-finalists were Ross Wightman and John Harris.

Irish meeting

THE Irish Club team that competes in the Warrington Catholic Bowls League have their annual meeting at the Irish Club in Orford Lane on Tuesday, starting at 7pm.

All members should attend and potential members are welcome too.

THE men's section of Bewsey Park Pensioners' Bowls Club will hold their annual meeting on Tuesday starting at 2pm.

Past and present members are invited to attend.

Railway final

THE final of the Warrington Independent Darts League's Railway Club Pairs competition takes place tomorrow, Friday, at the Railway Club.

Players involved in the final should be present at 7.45pm for the draw.
