Bank Quay Bulls 36

Wigan St Judes 6

BANK QUAY Bulls are in the hat for the last 16 of the North West Counties Cup after an excellent all round team display against a physical Wigan St Judes team.

They defended well throughout and scored a host of quality tries.

Damon Fishwick opened Bank Quay's account with a penalty goal after four minutes.

Ste Caley then set up a try for Chris Arnold before scoring himself. Fishwick added the extras on both occasions but Wigan hit back with a converted try.

Billy Rowan forced his way over out wide to increase Bank Quay's advantage to 18-6 and they continued to control the game after half-time.

Lee Smith scored a deserved try, Danny Heaton touched down following a trademark drive to the line and Rowan rounded off proceedings with his second score of the game.

Fishwick tagged on the extra points to all three tries.

His kicking game was instrumental to Bank Quay's comprehensive victory while Lee Rathbone and Heaton were sensational in the second row.

Bank Quay travel to Heysham Atoms for a league game on Saturday while the club's second string play Blackbrook A at home.

The game at Longshaw Street will kick-off at 2pm and Bank Quay's second team will be looking to return to winning ways after losing to an experienced Widnes Albion side at the weekend.

Neil Walsh, Bryan Shaw and Steven Pucill put in good individual performances but Bank Quay's only points of the game came courtesy of Craig Fishwick.
