Clock Face Miners 12 Blackpool Stanley 0

CLOCK secured their first league double of the season with this hard earned win over league leaders Blackpool Stanley.

Straight from the start the Seasiders put the Clock line under intense pressure, with their bigger, heavier forwards being put to good use trying to break through the Clock line.

But, with Clock's defence in outstanding from, ably led by Steve Molyneux, Steve Hayes and Iain Edmonds, there was no way they were going to let them through.

After being pinned in their own half for the first 15 minutes of the game, Clock finally broke out, and on their first attack were rewarded with a try, when Chris Littler put in a low kick through the visitors defence for Kalan Warburton to pick up and score an unconverted try.

These were to be the only points of an evenly fought first half, although both teams had chances to score, with Mark Costello and Ian Chisnall going closest for Clock.

Five minutes after the break, and Clock extended their lead, when Chris Littler raced from the halfway line, rounding the full back on his way to score a try between the posts that Karl Walker converted.

Clock now had a fairly comfortable lead, and were unlucky not to go further ahead, when Littler knocked on as he was being tackled over the line for what would have been a certain try.

A penalty on 65 minutes by Karl Walker wrapped up the scoring and edged Clock further ahead, and despite some last minute pressure from Blackpool, Clock's defence held firm to the end, to secure them a well deserved victory in a great all round team performance.

The J Hayhurst Builders man of the match award went to Mark Costello, with Wayne Prescott, Geoff Atherton and Matt Waterworth worthy of mention.
