GOLBORNE Parkside open age amateur Rugby League teams hope to be back in action this weekend.

Heavy rain put paid to last weekend's fixtures but on Saturday the first team are due to play at Pilkington Recs while the second team will be home to Weaverham, kick-off 2pm. Players should meet at 12.20pm.

Meanwhile, Golborne Parkside are desperate to hear from anyone interested or already has the experience of coaching girls rugby teams.

The club are quite willing to pay for the coaching education of anyone willing to have a go.

If you are interested contact Carol Doran on 01942 601904.

Portico u10 18

GOLBORNE entertained Portico in their last game before the winter break and were highly motivated.

They kept Portico at bay for long periods with some excellent defensive work, top tackler Josh Bennett, player of the match Ben Curry, Adam Hughes, Greg Wilde and most improved player Sam Baker.

Golborne only conceded one first half try and hit back through Sam Baker's debut try for the club early in the second half.

But Golborne let their standards slip and conceded two second half touch downs.
