PROPOSALS to build 10 homes at the site of the former village club in Lowton were withdrawn from last week's planning committee at the request of the developer.

The plans, to extend the current development of 10 homes at the site for the former Lowton Village Club, in Newton Road, were up for refusal.

Developers Wyman Homes Limited want to expand to the southern part of the site and demolish the Britannia car sales building.

The blueprints would make way for a further 10 four-bedroom homes and an access road.

But Wigan Council's planning committee received six letters of objection together with the views of Hope Carr Labour councillors Lynne Liptrott and Kevin Anderson.

A spokesman for Wigan Council did not know if the developers intended to make another application in the future.
