KIND-hearted children at St Peter's Primary School in Newton have sent their 'love in a box' to stricken children in war torn parts of the globe.

Youngsters filled boxes with treats like sweets, toys and toiletries and then festively wrapped each one to be sent to children who live in the world's war zones. They also sent letters, Christmas cards and photographs.

Gail Fairhurst, teaching assistant, said: "It's love in a box really and there are just so many countries in need of them."

The 134 festive parcels were sent to Liverpool where they will begin the second leg of their journey when they are allocated to an appropriate country.
