AS one of Sky One’s more popular series closes for the season, one of its stars, Warrington-born Kay Lomas, has become a favourite with viewers.
Kay, who lived in Cinnamon Brow when she was younger, now works as an immigration officer at London’s Heathrow Airport.
Since September her work has been featured on UK Border Force – a Sky One documentary following the work of immigration staff.
“There is no such thing as a typical day in this job, which is why I enjoy it so much. I see so many different kinds of people,” the 31-year-old former Padgate High School pupil said.
Her job is to stop people who are trying to enter the UK illegally, usually through forged passports or false visas.
“You might get someone who says they’re coming to visit London but they don’t have a clue what’s there even though they’re telling me it’s their dream,” she said.
“People will just keep telling you the same story over and over and hope you’ll believe it,” she said.
UK Border Force, an eight-part series, is to be repeated on Sky Three next year.
