A MULTI-car crash caused six-mile queues along the M6 in Warrington earlier.
National Highways reported on X significant delays on the northbound carriageway at around 6pm this evening, Friday.
This was due to a collision involving 'multiple vehicles' that occurred between junction 20, Lymm and junction 21, Warrington.
Two out of four lanes were closed while recovery services attended the scene.
And a warning was given of delays of up to 45 minutes, with up to six miles of congestion on the approach to the junction.
Shortly after, in an update, National Highways confirmed all lanes had reopened but there was still miles of congestion and long delays.
