A CHILD has been arrested by police on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in the centre of Warrington.
It comes after officers from Cheshire Police were on a routine patrol in the town centre as part of Operation Servator today, Monday.
This sees both uniformed and plain clothed officers deployed to spot any signs of criminal activity.
Police say that the boy ran away after being spotted by officers, who caught him and seized the knuckleduster.
The force’s Warrington Police team said: “Officers on a Project Servator deployment in Warrington town centre have arrested a 12-year-old boy who was in possession of a knuckleduster.
“The lad was walking through the town centre and tried to run off when he saw the officers.
“This was clearly his second mistake of the day after picking the knuckleduster up in the first place.
“If your children are going out and about in the town, please have a chat to them about what they are doing and who they are with.
“This could have done some damage if used.”
