POLICE have released a photo of a man they wish to speak to in connection with alleged comments made about ‘killing Muslims’.
As previously reported, British Transport Police is investigating reports of a hate crime incident on board a train.
The reported incident occurred on Saturday, September 7, at around 8.20pm, when a man was said to have made comments about ‘killing Muslims’.
This was on a Northern train heading to Warrington Central, travelling between Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool South Parkway, while the suspect is believed to be from Warrington.
The suspect was said to have then made threats towards a Muslim passenger who challenged him, before he left the service at Liverpool South Parkway.
British Transport Police previously confirmed that it was aware of a video on social media which showed a reported hate crime incident, and that it was investigating.
Now, a photo appeal has been launched.
A force spokesman said: “Officers would like to speak to the man in the image, who they believe may have information that could help their investigation.
“Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference number 787 of 7 September.
“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
