A YOB has been sentenced by the courts after causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage to a new town centre bar.
Doherty’s Irish Bar had only been open for business for less than two weeks when it was vandalised.
Anthony Stokes was the perpetrator, and he has now been sentenced for his actions at Warrington Magistrates’ Court, having admitted a charge of criminal damage.
The incident occurred on March 14, prosecutor Sarah McInerney told the court, with the Bold Street venue having only opened less than a fortnight ago at the time.
The 33-year-old, while inside the bar, destroyed a coffee machine, bar stools and framing to the value of £1,300.
Stokes, of Helmsley Close in Bewsey, entered a guilty plea to the charge and was handed a 12-month community order by magistrates.
As well as this, he must complete an alcohol abstinence and monitoring requirement for 80 days and 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
In addition, the court ordered that he pay compensation of £1,000 and costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £85.
