A CRUCIAL planning meeting is set to be adjourned.
The development management committee meeting scheduled for this evening, Thursday, is set to be adjourned until October 3.
The council says, regrettably, a ‘technical issue outside of the council’s direct control’, but linked to the committee management system website that the council uses for hosting meeting papers, resulted in the agenda for this evening’s meeting disappearing from view online.
It is proposed that all agenda items currently planned for discussion this evening will therefore be moved to a new meeting in a fortnight.
The council says that although legally the meeting would have been able to go ahead this evening, it strongly believes in ‘giving everyone a fair and timely opportunity’ to consider committee meeting papers, and has therefore decided that moving the meeting would be a ‘proportionate and reasonable’ step to take.
The committee meeting this evening is therefore set to be opened and then adjourned until October 3.
An outline application with proposals including up to 550 homes and a 160-bed hotel in the town centre were among the planning applications that the committee was set to make a decision on this evening.
